Description

Testosterone Cypionate Description^1-5

Testosterone Cypionate is an esterified form of testosterone. The ester extends the duration of action and is useful for less frequent, intramuscular, or subcutaneous injections. Once administered, the ester is cleaved, releasing free testosterone into the bloodstream.

Mechanism of Action

Mechanism of Action^1-5

Testosterone then binds to androgen receptors in various tissues, exerting anabolic and androgenic effects. These effects include the development and maintenance of male secondary sexual characteristics, stimulation of muscle and bone growth, and regulation of libido and mood.

Gastrointestinal (nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain)
Headache
Weight gain
Osteopenia
Insomnia
Injection site pain or inflammation
Mood swings or irritability
Increased or decreased libido
Gynecomastia

Contraindications & Precautions

Contraindications^1-5

Known intolerance or hypersensitivity to testosterone or any component of the formulation
Males with carcinoma of the breast or known or suspected carcinoma of the prostate
Pregnant or breastfeeding women
Patients with serious cardiac, hepatic, or renal disease

Precautions^1-5

Use with caution in patients with pre-existing hypercholesterolemia
Use with caution in patients with pre-existing osteoporosis
Not recommended in patients who are pregnant
Use with caution in patients with pre-existing ischemic cardiac disease
Monitor hematocrit and hemoglobin levels
Regularly assess liver function tests
Evaluate lipid profiles periodically
Monitor for signs of sleep apnea
Use cautiously in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease

Storage

Store at 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F) in a dry place, away from heat and light. DO NOT REFRIGERATE. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
