Product Overview

Compounded Aminophylline/Arginine gel is a topical formulation designed to enhance female sexual arousal and genital sensitivity. It combines two active agents—aminophylline, a phosphodiesterase inhibitor, and L-arginine, a nitric oxide precursor—to improve blood flow to the genital tissues. This gel is typically applied to the vulvar or clitoral area before sexual activity to promote arousal, increase lubrication, and enhance orgasmic response in women experiencing Female Sexual Arousal Disorder (FSAD) or other forms of sexual dysfunction.

Aminophylline:1-5

  • A complex of theophylline and ethylenediamine.
  • Inhibits phosphodiesterase (PDE), leading to increased intracellular cyclic AMP (cAMP) levels.
  • Elevated cAMP promotes smooth muscle relaxation and vasodilation, improving blood flow to applied areas.
  • Has mild lipolytic properties, though this effect is more relevant in cosmetic applications.

L-Arginine:

  • A naturally occurring amino acid and precursor to nitric oxide (NO).
  • Nitric oxide may act as a vasodilator, increasing blood flow by relaxing vascular smooth muscle.
  • May enhance blood flow, which can increase clitoral and vulvar engorgement, contributing to improved sensitivity and sexual pleasure.

Combined Effect:

  • The combination of aminophylline and L-arginine may synergistically enhance genital blood flow, improving sexual responsiveness and local tissue sensitivity in women.

Common (local):1-5

  • Skin irritation (redness, itching, tingling)
  • Burning sensation at the application site
  • Allergic contact dermatitis (rare)

Systemic (uncommon but possible):1-5

  • Nervousness or jitteriness (from aminophylline)
  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Hypotension

Contraindications: 1-5

  • Known allergy or hypersensitivity to aminophylline, theophylline, or L-arginine
  • Active genital infections (e.g., herpes, yeast infections)
  • Broken or inflamed skin at the application site

Precautions: 1-5

  • Use with caution in individuals with:
  • Cardiovascular disease (due to potential vasodilation)
  • Hypotension
  • Asthma or COPD (aminophylline may interact with systemic medications)
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding (safety not established)
  • Not for use with barrier methods like latex condoms without compatibility testing, as some gels may degrade latex.
